The Perfect White Lie(s)

Do you believe it’s okay to lie? Your first instinct is to say no, isn’t it?

Well, I may have a reason for you to change your mind (& the perfect white lies for you to tell).

Say you want to plan a boudoir shoot for someone special in your life.. but you want to surprise them once you get your album and wall art back.. what do you do?

Are they going to ask about you coming home in full glam? Are they going to be suspicious if your location shows you not at work? Are they going to be curious about you taking a large bag of lingerie out of the house? Are they going to see a charge on your shared account and think it’s fraud? Stop worrying! I am here to help surprise your person!

  • For you coming home in full glam, that one is EASY! Tell them you were wandering around the mall to get your steps in (or even to just return some things) and there was a booth doing makeovers to test new products!
  • Sharing your location? I recently used this to surprise my best friend (iPhone hack, not sure about android): settings > general > iphone storage > location app (life 360, find my friends, etc.) > offload app. This will basically freeze your location. It will not update, but there will be a weird gap in your location.. so make sure you do this when you’re at home! The excuse? You updated your phone and it’s freaking out (not unusual for apple lol).
  • For the bag of lingerie – obviously try to sneak it out without them seeing… but IF they do… lingerie needs special cleaning, so you’re dropping it off at the dry cleaner! This may also prompt them to schedule a date night, so make sure you spray your lingerie with a fresh smelling cleaner (or do dry clean / wash them)!
  • Do you share finances? This one needs to be strategic and does require a smidge of planning. The easiest way to get around this is always taking cash (you can gradually get cash back with groceries or other purchases, if you want to be even sneakier). BUT if this is difficult, you can always grab a visa gift card for your purchases! Tell them you’re working on a surprise for them, and you don’t want them to see where the charge is to.
  • Do you need an excuse to be absent a few hours? Tell your partner you’re helping a friend move some furniture or attending a surprise party planning session for another friend. Or tell them you have your annual appointment with your OBGYN/general physical doctor/dentist/eye doc/etc.
  • Clueless on hiding mysterious packages? Pre shoot packages related to the shoot (like props or outfits) can be excused by saying you’re participating in a product testing program that requires discretion. Post session packages are easiest to avoid by sending them to the photographer to be picked up (if that is an option) or having them sent directly to a friend (also can be used pre-shoot if needed).
  • Do you have a shared computer/device? Make sure to clear your browser history or use incognito mode when researching boudoir shoots to avoid suspicion.
