In a world where Instagram filters and Photoshop can sometimes make us feel like we need to be plastic and ‘perfect’, we’ve decided to take a different approach. Here at lastphoto.KC, we celebrate your journey, including those permanent marks that tell stories of your adventures and resilience. No airbrushing out or erasing those badges of honor!

Now, don’t get me wrong, I totally get wanting to erase or cover up those annoying, and sometimes painful, temporary blemishes like a pimple or a bruise from that clumsy moment (I get it more than anyone, if you look at me wrong? I bruise). It’s all about helping you feel your absolute best during your shoot while still keeping it real. Our guideline is: if it’s something that we can cover up in 5 minutes (aka with special care and makeup) or if it’s something that will be gone in 5 days, then we will remove it. If it’s something that is permanent, we will lessen it (smooth it out) but we will not entirely remove it.

The response to this, from our awesome clients, has been beyond amazing. They love seeing themselves as they truly are, and it’s incredibly rewarding to capture that genuine confidence and self-love in photos. As one client put it, “Seeing my stretch marks in my photos made me feel like an absolute goddess!”

We get it – this isn’t always something we can easily vibe with and accept (I myself am still trying to learn to be comfortable with my C-section scar and new mommy stretch marks, or tiger stripes), but it is something that has been truly amazing being able to help our clients, often turned friends, process and realize. This is also helping me through my journey too – so it’s amazing to be in the same shoes as so any others!
